Job Prospects
With training in problem solving, IT, experimental and mathematical methods, you will develop transferable skills that will make you very attractive to potential employers. All those economic sectors experiencing the strongest economic growth and highest productivity – telecommunications, manufacturing of instruments, oil extraction and many others – depend on the application of physical principles. Our classes, which are underpinned by strong research activities in complexity, nanoscience, optics and plasma, prepare new physicists for a future that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of Physics and give extremely good prospects for employment. Our graduates have an excellent record in finding prestigious and well-paid jobs. Our Alumni Section shows the range of diverse jobs that our students have entered.
In addition, by tapping into the wealth of experience and extensive worldwide contacts of staff in the Department, the department has developed a Career Mentoring Service, further details can be found here under the "Career Mentoring" section.
The University also has a very efficient Careers Service and the range of help they offer includes specific information and advice on a range of issues aimed at international students, including working during your studies and working in the UK after graduation.
